Circuit breakers Circuit breakers ВА 96-29, ВА 96-100 , ВА 96+N are a modern generation of devices designed to protect circuits and wiring against short-circuit currents and prolonged overloads. The circuit breakers are manufactured in single-pole, pole-plus-neutral, 2-, 3- and four-pole versions. The circuit breaker can be used for operational switching of an electrical circuit on and off. Operating principle of circuit breakers Circuit breakers operate on the basis of thermal and electromagnetic releases. The releases of circuit breakers are a unit built into the breaker housing and designed to trip the breaker under the action of a current whose magnitude exceeds the current for which the breaker is set. The action of the thermal release is based on the change in shape of a bimetallic strip, which bends when a breaker load current exceeding the rated current flows through it. The strip acts on the tripping mechanism of the device. The electromagnetic release consists of an electromagnet whose coil carries the breaker current. The electromagnet is actuated only when an emergency overload current flows, for example if a mechanism jams, or when a short-circuit current is present, and it acts on the tripping mechanism of the breaker.
